This is the creative home of Natalija Brunovs.
A blog is a reason to create.
A creation is a reason to blog.
To force oneself to create can force inspiration to occur.
These thoughts and images are from wanderings and workings as an artist, photographer, designer, community artsworker and lover.

Natalija Brunovs

I reside somewhere between a beach in Perth and a van in the tropics of Queensland.

I'm a Latvian American Australian Pisces of nomadic dreams and questionable questioning. I've been a graphic designer, a company director, a photographer, a film director, a public speaker, a community arts facilitator, an activist, an artist and a saxophonist.
My plan has been to have no plan, I've simply done what I'm drawn to and been prepared to confront my fears. (Still have skiing on the list)...

My blog is my way to keep creative despite inspiration's reliable inconsistency. The blog is my little space to fill, giving me a reason to develop an idea beyond the little flash in my mind's eye. So with my invisible audience, I can 'launch' my ideas rather than store them in a little book or let them slip into my subconscious.

Things I've done

Started a graphic design company at the age of 23. (Papercut Media 2002 - 2006)
Had a cameo in a feature film called 'The Sculptor' (2008)
Been a resident photographer in two remote WA communities. Mingenew and Meekatharra.
Been a band photographer shooting the likes of Eskimo Joe, Jebediah and You Am I. (97-01)
Been a soloist saxophonist in the Sydney Kings Basketball Stage Band (1993).
Studied design at Curtin University. (96-98)
Had a job designing phone sex ads and got fired for not being dedicated enough. (99)

Made a documentary film about two sisters without parents in South Africa. (2009)
Sat through ten days of silent vipassana meditation (2010) - THIS is my greatest acheivement.

I love birds, leaves, feathers, warm sunlight dancing on surfaces, dessert, when I feel blissful and share it with others, colour combinations, sweet potato, playing with children, being alone, disco dancing, teaching, making art, creating comedy, healthy and delicious food, learning, my dog oscar, moments with strangers, islands, details of nature, meditation, running, monkeys, riding my motorbike, almond croissants, vivid eyes, shells, feeling community...

Thanks for visiting. x
