Natalija Brunovs

I reside near the ocean in Fremantle, Western Australia.

I've lived in the Sunshine Coast, Queensland and Armidale in mountainous New South Wales.

And now I've come home.

I'm a Latvian American Australian Pisces of fantastical dreams and questionable questioning. I've headed up a couple of Perth design studios, been a photographer for 16 years (reaching my fame at 21 as a band photographer and now I shoot weddings for FUN), I've shot some films, including one documentary on orphans with powerful dolls in South Africa and produced many more in my role at ABC Open. I've worked as a community arts facilitator with refugees, retirees, youth and Indigenous folk, painted stuff, legal and illegal, I've been in quite a few activist 'events' against uranium, whaling and the chopping down of old growth forests - I've worn a numbat suit, laid down in the middle of an intersection full of traffic and learnt to drive boats fast for Greenpeace. I seek some form of enlightenment in this lifetime so that it doesn't feel like a wasted opportunity. So I meditate, explore and find connections. I'm a creative generalist, an artist of self-doubting production and a constant dabbler. However I believe that being an artist is a state-of-mind.

My blog is my way to keep creative despite inspiration's reliable inconsistency. This is my little space to fill, giving me a reason to develop an idea beyond the little flash in my mind's eye and instead publish it to my invisible audience, letting the ideas collect into a mass of curiosities that tell me a bit more about who I am.
